51st Annual National Conference of AIOTA – ‘OTICON-14’ from 7th to 9th February 2014

Theme of conference “Living Life to the fullest- An Occupational Therapy Perspective”
“Occupational Therapy: Living Life to Its Fullest” embraces those variations and crystallizes in a few words what the profession stands for, and the positive impact practitioners have on the lives of those they serve. Occupational therapy enables people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability. It is a practice deeply rooted in science and an evidence-based, meaning that the plan designed for each individual is supported by data, experience, and “best practices” that have been developed and proven over time. It is occupational therapy’s purpose to get beyond problems of their clients to a solution that assure living life to its fullest. The goal is to maximize potential. Through therapeutic approaches, occupational therapy helps individuals design their lives, develop needed skills, adjust their environments (e.g., home, school, or work) and build health-promoting habits and routines that will allow them to thrive. “Living Life to Its Fullest” is what occupational therapy is truly all about.

Occupational Therapy Job at Goregaon

Dr.Koushik,
We currently have 3 openings for the post of an occupational therapist. The requirement is mainly for our Goregaon center. But we also have requirements for our upcoming and developing projects wherein, the therapists are required to start their work from august and hence, this would also give them ample of time to serve a notice period to their then, previous organisation. This requirement would be for the central suburbs.
We obviously welcome experienced therapists but we also welcome freshers. A compulsory training post joining the center is provided to everyone regardless of their qualification, grades or experience. The salary can be discussed only once we come to know the qualification, grades, experience and uniqueness.
The nature and no. of members in a team that the therapist would be dealing with- It would 90% be one on one sessions  with the child and the assessments, hence, would not require to work all the time in a team. However, the interaction would be on a regular basis with all other therapists, be it from the same or other disciplines. It also depends on how many therapies a child is taking at the same time and hence, the need to follow up with co- therapists.

About NHCDC- Dr. Samir Dalwai (MD, DCH, FCPS, DNB, LL B.), a Developmental Pediatrician and Founder Director of New Horizons Child Development Center, started his consultation clinic in 1997 and founded NHCDC in February 2003. Dr. Dalwai is an important member of the recently formed "Young Parliamentarians' Citizens' Alliance against Malnutrition". Dr. Dalwai was invited by the (a) Government of India as a Member, Juvenile Justice Review Committee - National Committee for the Protection of Child Rights, (b) Government of Maharastra as a Member, Expert Panel, Maharastra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
NHCDC is a unique and one of the largest multi – disciplinary, comprehensive and integrated Child Development Centers in India. We have had the good fortune to work with and enable close to 10,000 children in the last 10 years with varying developmental, psychological, behavioral and academic concerns like Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, Speech and Language Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, among others. We have 6 departments (Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Remedial Education, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and Nutrition) working in an integrated, multidisciplinary manner across three branches (Goregaon, Santa Cruz, Bhandup)  and several schools in Mumbai.  We have a highly qualified & well experienced team of professionals for holistic development of children. Team NHCDC is most sought after in India, Asian countries including the Gulf.
NHCDC endeavors to reach out to as many children as possible to enable them and would like to share our learning with the community.

Dr.Koushik, Thank you for all your help and support in posting the add on your blog. Any uncleared doubts or queries, please contact back.
