16th International Congress Of The World Federation Of Occupational Therapy  In Collaboration With 48th Japanese Occupational Therapy Congress And Expo 18-21 June , 2014 Yokohama , Japan  is now open for Abstract submission

Guide line for abstract submission

1.      Abstracts can only be submitted online. Emailed, faxed or hard copy submissions will NOT be accepted.
2.      Authors whose first language is Japanese are requested to submit abstracts both in Japanese and English.
3.      Authors who are not occupational therapists can also submit their abstracts.
4.      The author is responsible for the accuracy of the abstract.
5.      Accepted abstracts are entitled to be presented at WFOT Congress 2014 held in Yokohama, Japan from June 18, 2014 until June 21, 2014. Those whose abstracts are accepted are asked to complete their Congress registration by March 30, 2014, otherwise their presentation may not be included in the programme and any published materials.
6.      There are 3 types of presentation: Oral, Poster and Workshop. Please select your preferred type of presentation in the online submission system. However, please kindly be reminded that the final presentation type assignment will be determined by the Scientific Programme Committee.
7.      Access to the online submission system will be limited closer to the submission deadline to prevent over access to the system. Your early action and submission is highly recommended.
8.      The acceptance of an abstract for WFOT Congress 2014 does not imply provision of travel, accommodation or registration for the Congress, nor any other costs associated with the preparation or presentation of the abstract, or any costs associated with attendance at the Congress.

The 2nd European Design4Health conference seeks to explore the relationship between design, and health and wellbeing. This conference provides a forum and focus for researchers, policy makers and practitioners to discuss, disseminate and test their approach and methods. The conference features an exhibition of innovative health related artifacts and designs plus special sessions and workshops.
Those participating in the Call for Papers and Exhibition Proposals might include designers, practitioners and researchers in health and wellbeing, and representatives from the health and design industries and funding bodies.
We invite submissions in the form of an extended abstract or an exhibition proposal. Participants may submit more than one paper and/or exhibition proposal. Successful authors will be invited to present their work at the conference.

TOEFL will no longer be required to complete the OTED process.

NBCOT Policy Update
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER, 2012
Previously, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) was required to complete the Occupational Therapist Eligibility Determination (OTED). Effective October, 2012, the TOEFL will no longer be required to complete the OTED process.
What does this mean for me? This means that if you have not yet taken the TOEFL or have not passed the TOEFL, it will no longer be required to obtain your OTED determination.

The College of Occupational Therapists (COT) in the UK is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of a new practice guideline on Occupational therapy for adults undergoing total hip replacement, which will be free to download from the COT website from 14th November 2012 (www.cot.co.uk). This is the UK’s first formal, evidence-based publication with recommendations to guide occupational therapists working in this specialty. WFOT PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION LAUNCH!

To celebrate World Occupational Therapy Day 2012 WFOT  Launched  a photograph competition to capture the fantastic work that occupational therapists do around the world.
Photographs are said to speak a thousand words and we are looking for your unique visual images of occupational therapy in practice. We are using the phrase "All in a days work" to capture the sentiment of the photographs we are looking to attract from you.
Your images can come from all aspects of what you do – in practice, education, research, management – there are endless options!
We want to see occupational therapists doing what they are best at doing – namely – engaging others in occupation and promoting occupational therapy.
Abstract interpretations of occupational therapy are welcomed, but we would love to see what you are doing in the communities and people that you work with.

 DESCRIPTION:
This one day workshop will present an overview of the components of praxis. The workshop is suitable for professionals like Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Educators, parents and others working with children with dyspraxia or practic difficulties. It is suitable for those who are new in the field and also for those who have experience and want to further expand their knowledge into a systematic model of practice. The workshop will be presented with an emphasis on clinical assessment and practical intervention for practic problems in children.

The day will be a divided into formal lecture, video presentations, small group works and a number of case studies to empower the participants to use the information disseminated.

Participants will be able to:
  • Observe, assess and differentiate the range of practic dysfunctions from ideation to execution problems.
  • Apply top-down and bottom-up treatment principles appropriately to different problems using clinical reasoning.
  • Identify the ways various praxis problems impact functional performance.
  • Develop strategies and treatment plans for improving performance.
  • Integrate the information presented into a specific model of practice.

FEE:
